In the U.S. right now there are quite a few states under a lot of pressure from many different quarters to open up for business again. It's a pretty remarkable scenario given that the U.S. has also assumed the undesirable mantle of the world's epicentre of COVID-19 at this particular juncture.  Things still aren't very good over there. But recent news reports are suggesting that some level of control has been achieved by the government. There must be some truth to this because my contacts in the U.S. are telling me that gyms are opening once again.  They're subject to an array of new regulations, but they're nonetheless opening for business once again. Not across the entire country - but in at least a handful of states it would seem.

Why is this important? I think it's notable for one reason. It confirms that this current situation that we all find ourselves in will come to an end eventually. Perhaps sooner than originally thought. If stay at home regulations can be relaxed in the U.S. at this point in time, then logically there's a better than even chance that they'll be relaxed here too. Indeed, that's already happened in some respect right here in Queensland this week.

Some are saying gyms will stay closed here in Australia until September at the earliest. But the people who say that aren't currently lobbying for an earlier opening date. Which is exactly what's happening right now amongst fitness industry peak bodies. The health and fitness sector plays a pretty important role in helping to maintain the wellness of the community. The reintroduction of health and fitness services, with new rules and regulations, could only add to its resilience.

So what does that mean for us at CrossFit Kantok? Well it means we're gearing up to get back to the gym. We don't know how just yet? But we can do lots in the meantime. Keeping our current members fit online (remote training) is number one. We want them to hit the ground running. It should be a case of picking up right where you left off when the doors closed. So we're working people hard in isolation.

We're also going to make it easier for others to join us as we prepare to get back on the wagon. My goal was to get 100 people fit over this period despite the limitations. Thankfully, I may actually run out of time to reach that target.

There'll be more information to come.
