Online and Remote PT is a Thing!

It's true! And it's just as effective as in-person personal training. On-line, remote or off-site personal training (whatever you want to call it) can be even more intense than the face to face approach. That's because a trainer has to work harder to stay in touch with clients, their needs and goals. Close, regular and effective communication with the client is essential so that;

  • the trainer knows when, and how often the client intends to exercise;
  • the trainer can recommend exercise or program tweaks so that the client gets the most out of their workouts;
  • the trainer understands the nutritional context likely to affect the client's performance and their ability to achieve their goals;
  • the trainer can show the client how to develop the mind-set needed to work-out independently and to become goal oriented;
  • the trainer can instruct the client in methods and approaches used to develop correct form and technique remotely; and
  • the trainer can improve the client's accountability levels. We expect open and honest disclosure with online PT, which isn't called for during in-person PT. When face to face, the trainer makes their own assessment of progress based on what's observed. Online PT requires self-reflection and honest self-assessment from the client so as to paint an accurate picture for the trainer.

How do we deliver?

Our approach is a little on the unique side. We offer an online, minimal equipment training program that runs in parallel to our main program. Our main program is what we use to keep our clients and members fit when they show up for their daily workout.

Our online program consists of the same workouts, but with modifications to allow clients to do them with minimal equipment. These workouts can be done in a variety of situations, such as hotel gyms and garages.

We also make an effort to bring all of our clients and regular members together in the virtual space. It doesn't matter where our online PT client might be based they have gym buddies back at CrossFit Kantok HQ who will follow their progress and vice versa. This interaction is possible because we track workout results and share them on the same online platform. Its a really great way for remote clients to feel included and a part of our wider gym community.

In addition to inclusive online programming, our Nutrition Kickstart Program is also delivered online. We don't offer meal plans, diets or slavish food tracking routines. What we do is teach clients how to identify the gaps in their approach to nutrition and we provide guidance with regard to developing the habits and behaviours more likely to lead to success.

What about cost?

Cost is always an important consideration. If considering Online PT it's useful to compare the cost between what we've come to expect from traditional PT and what is possible with Online PT. Here's the usual breakdown;

In-Person PT = $75-80/1 x 45 minute session on average. Usually no follow up. The trainer might recap and review briefly at the next scheduled appointment.

Online PT = $75-80/week. Multiple programmed workouts per week. Constant trainer contact. Workout tracking. Biometrics. Regular check-ins. No appointments to rush to and no excuses needed for being late!

The numbers speak for themselves.

So what is Hybrid Training?

Hybrid Training is the latest approach to developing a solid health and fitness strategy designed to remove the really common excuses for not exercising. Such as I never have enough time or PT is way too expensive!. Hybrid Training combines group fitness, PT, On-line PT and Nutrition Coaching.

We offer all approaches, bundled together as one personalised program. This is what we call a wrap around approach. Cover all the bases and there are no gaps. And yes, personalised programming means bespoke programs for those folks who need it. Once upon a time this kind of approach was only available to top athletes and sports people. Now we can deliver it to anyone.
