I saw a motivational post in my feed a while ago. It was a phrase I have to workout today. But have was crossed out and over the top the word get was scrawled in as a hasty edit. So it actually read I GET to work out today! Perfect. I liked the way that this one little change had such a massive impact. It changed the messaging completely. It's suggesting that gratitude can really affect perspective. The way we look at things.
A few years back I was in the U.S. at a martial arts seminar and jumped at an opportunity to spend some time with an absolute master. In addition to acquiring some new skills and cool techniques, the encounter also left me with some valuable advice about how to be grateful - about how to show it by sharing what you know, and serving others. It's not as simple as always being that annoying glass half full guy all the time. It's actually about taking action as the product of clarity. I've kept a gratitude journal ever since.
The name of our affiliate is a constant reminder about the importance of gratitude. Kantok means to never give up and always do your best. But it's also a way of connecting with our past. As a motto, it first came about many years ago when times were extremely challenging for our forebears. I'm grateful that we can reflect on our history whenever we have to face up to the challenges of running a gym in the 21st century. We draw a lot of strength from this.
I'm doubly grateful for living where I live with my family, and our members. Especially as I sit here reading posts on our affiliate owners Facebook group that lay out the struggles so many others are going through right now. I read about another gym owner this morning forced to close permanently now, as a second CV-19 tsunami hits in the U.S. So we can't let the opportunities pass us by. It's an old adage but it's obviously been around for a long time for a good reason. It's true!
We get to live here in Cairns in Far North Queensland. As long as we follow the rules we get to benefit from a relaxation of the CV-19 rules and regulations. We get to congregate in large numbers once more. We get to go to the pub the footy the markets etc without too much drama. And we get to work out! We get to take control of our health and fitness. If we want to. What are you grateful for right now? Are you letting opportunities pass you by? Are you seeing the glass as half full but haven't completed the circle by taking action? Take some action - come see us today!
